DISCO RIOT has a vital role to play in supporting the safeguarding and (r)evolution of movement and performing arts culture in San Diego. Your contributions to DISCO RIOT always go directly towards the generation of new movement-based art, resources for artist collaboration, and the necessities of building a stronger community. Every dollar you give impacts the possibility of more dance, storytelling, innovation and artist retention in our region.
As we prepare for our third year amid this pandemic, there is much unknown about how we move forward, but we know we must keep moving. Our plans for 2021 are ambitious, but important for the local dance scene, and we are committed to showing up and making these opportunities happen. While we can’t give away all of the juicy details just yet, here is an outline of our programming for 2021:
2020 was a doozy, but we adapted to create rad movement-art opportunities for the community and we couldn’t have done it without your support! With your help, DISCO RIOT commissioned & presented new works by 21 artists locally & nationally, produced 11 Dance Films & 1 Music Video, converted our spring concert into an online event, hosted our 2nd round of S P A C E Resident Artists, offered over 50 classes for the community by donation, launched new, innovative programs like Choreo & _______, promoted civic engagement with our Move American project, and developed many new relationships that will make San Diego a more collaborative art community!
