What has been your favorite part of the process?

We have been so grateful for our time in the Malashock Dance studios. This process has been extremely fulfilling! We have grown a bond as a partnership and allowed our artistry to grow both together and independently. Our favorite part has been sharing the process together and watching our creation come to fruition.

How has your approach to dance creation changed or been different during your residency?

As classically trained dancers we have most frequently worked with dance performance in a formal setting where there is a big separation between the dancers and the audience. We have been approaching this residency with the intent to break down this divide and create a more casual and intimate performance atmosphere. This has included a lot of exploration with the community throughout our studio time which will also be represented in our performance.

Other than dance, what mediums are important to the overall theme of your piece? This could be music, projection, spoken word, visual etc. What role will these aspects play?

Our sound score has been a crucial component to cultivating the little world that our piece exists within. Elements of a warm campfire, crickets chirping, wind chimes & harmonica intertwine with our movement throughout the duration of our on and off stage journey.
