De Este Lado del Camino is a dance film that explores the human experience of undocumented families in the United States. The film delves deep into the emotional and physical challenges and struggles undocumented immigrant families face, and also showcases their strength, resilience and determination navigating complex and hostile environments. The film invites viewers to empathize with their journey, fostering an understanding of diverse experiences with this community.
Marcella Torres-Sánchez (she/her/hers/ella) is a first-generation Mexican-American movement artist with a BA in Dance and BS in Education Sciences from UC San Diego, an AA in Visual and Performing Arts from San Diego City College, and certifications in Contemporary Dance and Scenic Production. She’s performed professionally and earned choreography awards, artistic residencies, grants, and scholarships. Currently pursuing an MFA in Dance at Saint Mary’s College of California and working as the Dance Education Program Specialist at Heartbeat Music and Performing Arts Academy.
