Season 5 is about expanding our collaborations and our commitment to community-building. We are offering many of our favorite staple programs while exploring ways to better resource local artists. Check out what we are up to and get involved!

  • Training Opportunities

    Our weekly donation-based classes are all about accessibility to thoughtful dance training for the San Diego community. You can catch us multiple times a week in different locations, offering classes for movers of all levels and abilities.

  • Queer Mvmnt Fest

    June 12-18: San Diego's only queer-focused dance festival highlights the work of LGBTQ+, BIPOC dance artists from San Diego and beyond. Join us for the second year of this BEAUTIFUL festival!

  • DISCO RIOT + FACT/SF in San Diego!

    November 2-4: DISCO RIOT and FACT/SF will complete the second half of their PORT exchange with performance and workshops.

  • S P A C E Alliance Residency

    S PA CE is one of our favorite offerings: 10 weeks of studio space to develop work in cohort with others! Application Period: April 15 - May 15, 2023 for Residencies July 16 - September 23.

  • Community Goodness

    This year, we are offering FREE Professional Development Workshops (PD Series), Community Auditions/Networking Events (Free Range Cattle Call), and R&D Performances <3

  • Choreo & ______

    We have two Choreo & _____ events for you! We're flying at WoW Festival in April, and making in spooky in October. Get into it!

Season 4 was about to collectively working towards a more diverse and supported dance scene in San Diego, and the power of movement-art as an agent for change.

  • Training Opportunities

    We continued to offer San Diego movers high quality dance training opportunities.

  • Queer Mvmnt Fest

    From June 24-26 we successfully hosted San Diego's first queer-focused dance festival!

  • DISCO RIOT + FACT/SF @ ODC

    In August, DISCO RIOT and FACT/SF shared a program at San Francisco's ODC Theater as the first part of our touring exchange.

  • S P A C E Alliance Residency

    The 4th S P A C E Residency was a rad collaboration between dance artists and local spaces.

  • DISCO RIOT Spring Show

    April 21-24: We shared new works by DISCO RIOT crew Zaquia Mahler Salinas, Marty Dorado, Chelsea Zeffiro and guest artist Anna Massey!

  • Choreo & ______

    May 28 & 29: Choreo & Climb and Choreo & Kickball took San Diego by storm!

For Season 3, we committed to not only create opportunities for local movement artists, but to insist on systemic change, and emphasize the importance of supporting the larger San Diego arts scene.

    KINDLE 2021 had an artistic social action focus, exploring a collective through-line: how do we build community for the future?

  • A Year of DisDANCE

    On March 14th we shared filmed works centered on themes/life lessons from 2020 by local movement artists Desiree Cuizon, Marcos Duran, Marlene Garcia, Alyssa Junious, Tanya Lewis, and Alyssa Rose at Cinema Under the Stars.

  • S P A C E Alliance Residency

    We successfully offered this cooperative studio residency program for a 3rd year! This iteration of our residency program included a live showing of the resident artists work at Art Produce in October.

    On May 1 & 2, 2021 we shared new live dance and film works by Lauren Christie, Zaquia Mahler Salinas, Jaime Nixon, and grace shinhae jun at a rad outdoor space in Logan Heights!

With a global crisis turning society on its head, Season 2 was about facing the challenges of our immediate experiences with flexibility and ingenuity. We believe that movement art and practice are paramount in times such as these. We adapted our programming with the intention to cultivate connection, resilience, and opportunities for engagement in challenging times.

  • S P A C E Alliance Accelerated Residency

    We are providing movement artists the same opportunity for a cooperative studio residency program, but in a shorter period of time. This concentrated schedule comes as a response to the COVID19 pandemic. Application Period: April 20 - May 15

  • current

    While current was intended for live performance, through virtual rehearsals and artistic reframing, a dance film iteration of the show is being developed in response to the COVID19 pandemic. The work will be delivered directly to your living space between April 30 - May 2, 2020.

  • Choreo & Skate

    The inaugural iteration of our Choreo & _____ idea where dance and activities collide, Choreo & Skate was a combination of short dance performances by local movement artists and an open skate session at Skateworld San Diego on March 1, 2020. We look forward to a time when we can Choreo & ______ again!

  • Training Opportunities

    We are committed to offering San Diego movers high quality dance training opportunities. In Season 2, highlights include a weekend workshop with Byb Chanel Bibene (to be rescheduled).

  • KINDLE

    Pitch a project, dream up new ideas, network and share your upcoming events with like-minded artists who are passionate about building a more collaborative San Diego arts community. We're doing it live when we can and virtually when we can't!

  • Movement Explorations

    Social DisDANCE movement exploration prompts are available on our Instagram and Facebook to keep you movin' and groovin' throughout the Stay at Home order.

  • S P A C E Alliance

    A studio residency program promoting the cooperation of local spaces and movement-artists. Applications for 2019 residencies are due June 8, 2019.

  • Palestine Project

    DISCO RIOT’s Zaquia Mahler Salinas will be an Artist in Residence with Diyar Dance Theatre in Bethlehem.

  • Kindle May 9th

    A DISCO RIOT gathering for artists from all mediums to make connections and spark possibilities for interdisciplinary projects.

  • Ex Nihilo

    In this work we meditate on the creative spark that must underlie all beginnings in order to bring them to fruition, and the humbling awe of never truly knowing where it comes from.

  • Movement

    Join us in a new workshop format that inspires people to move in more ways!
